THRESHOLD (2008)

Sound and video installation, dimensions variable. The sound uses the neurogranular sampler, an instrument modelled on the firing neurons in the brain and tiny fragment of the human voice. This sampler, the first of its kind, uses models of neurons firing to stimulate sound patterns. Sometimes the voice or breath is almost perceivable, its rhythms and intonation becoming recognisable, sometimes the voice is not decipherable where the neurological time patterns become dominant. The moving image is a landscape shrouded in fog.
